Theater Theatron, a free professional theatre collective founded in 2001, is based at Scenkonsthuset Bastionen in Malmö, and performs mostly in Malmö, Lund, and Southern Sweden. Open to all, yet especially focused on youth aged 12–26 and adults, draws its practice on participatory and documentary theatre traditions, emphasising co-creation and the articulation of overlooked or silenced narratives.
Central to Theatron’s artistic vision is the idea of orbiting lived experience into art, imagination, and personal voices, thus transforming individual memory and emotion into shared creative expressions. Through this process, the company investigates how performance can serve as a site of reflection, empathy, and re-imagined belonging.
Theatron’s repertoire spans twenty productions, five international tours, two European projects, and four festivals, mainly developed within a North–South European framework that connects Northern Europe and the Western Balkans. At the intersection of art, activism, and education, Theatron’s work challenges static notions of identity and community.
Exploring how personal and collective histories intertwine, by merging artistic experimentation with social engagement, it sustains a dynamic theatre of empathy, participation, and critical reflection on contemporary realities.
