At Storyline Discovery, we imagine our work as a shared performance of growth — a living stage where young people can pause, reflect, and give voice to their memories. It’s a safe space to transform emotion into movement, thought into dialogue, and experience into art.

We, the mentors, stand not in front of the curtain but beside it — co-actors in the same unfolding play. Each workshop becomes a rehearsal for empathy, each festival a spotlight where ideas and feelings meet and take new form.

Our first seminary in Belgrade set the scene for this story. Understanding how the local context and social norms influence our participants’ needs—and shape their stories and expectations of our workshops and the project as a whole—was central to our approach. It was equally valuable to compare certain social phenomena that form part of one group’s mental map and coming-of-age experience, yet play little or no role in the lives of their peers in other countries.

MEETING AGENDA

The forest becomes a metaphor for society: interconnected, interdependent, and threatened. I left the performance with a renewed sense of responsibility and belonging .

Urška Bradaškja Morato (after Dancing Trees performance by DAH Theatre)

A particularly powerful moment occurred  when the young audience was invited to take sides and unanimously refused to betray the main character. This prompted Mladenović to remark –Perhaps there is still hope for us.

Željko Santrač, Teater Theatron (after performance in Duško Radović Theatre)

The day finished in a perfect way, some of us jumped into the river and had a wonderful time, just before the storm began. It was a perfect ending of a great day and a great start to the project.
